ABOUT

Hello everyone! I am Dr. Deborah Goodwin and I am excited to be joining with you in a learning adventure. I wanted to introduce myself to you. I have an eclectic background: I have a bachelor’s degree in Bible, a master’s degree in Speech Communication and Theater Arts and a doctorate in Educational Leadership. I came into education after raising a family: I was 42 when I went into the classroom. I have experience as a teacher, a principal, an assistant superintendent, a school improvement specialist, a superintendent, and a professor.

I was raised in Chattanooga, TN and am a product of the Hamilton County and the Bradley County Public Schools. I came to Arkansas in 1970 to go to Central Baptist College.

On a personal note, I have been married to Bill Goodwin since August 13, 1971. We have 3 children and 12 grandchildren. Bill is the pastor at the First Baptist Church in Newark, AR and I have been involved in ministries of several kinds: teaching, singing, speaking, etc.

My philosophy on teaching and learning is that it is a cooperative endeavor between the teacher and the learner. I don’t believe teaching has really occurred until the learning has occurred.

I believe in shared governance and collaborative leadership and relish helping organizations discover their power through organizational development.

If you have any interest in personality theory, I am an ENFP according to the Keirsey Temperament Test (Idealist Champion.) My goal in life is to convince others that they can be successful.

I can’t wait to meet you and hear your story!
I believe in life, liberty, love and learning for all!
Dr, Deborah Goodwin
